With smokey bacon, peas, almonds & basil.

I thought we made a good carbonara, until we made this. Not only is it full of flavour and texture, it is far more healthy than our previous version… even if we did add a little more bacon than suggested!

Again, a fairly easy recipe (if you have a food processor) that takes little time or money to make. You can find the recipe here… if you haven’t already bought the book! There was a time when I didn’t understand the need to buy recipe books anymore- you can save space and money by just typing what you want into Google. But there is something nice about pulling out a book from the shelf and flicking through the pages, stumbling across ideas that a refined search on Google wouldn’t come across.

So I think this skinny recipe will be replacing our standard carbonara… we’ll just compromise on the bacon front. And maybe the vitamin B in the peas will be enough to help our hearts deal with that!
